A Software Documentation System needs to be reliable, as Software Teams are constantly using it to make decisions.

Why a Software Documentation Solution Must Be Reliable

In order to be a reliable source of information, a Software Documentation System needs to be accurate and kept up to date.  This can be accomplished by adding features such as notifications, and flagging of  content that is either missing or needs attention.

Content in the SDS should be updated as soon as changes are deployed to the Production environment, to reflect all of the latest changes.  Updates to the content in the software documentation system needs to be scheduled and attended to as part of the SDLC to ensure it is kept up to date and is always a reliable source of information.

After all, Software Team members are making decisions about changes to your Software based on this information. Therefore, the reliability is of utmost importance.
